Hey there, mama! I want to ask you a question: are you a fan of social media? If not, what don’t you like about it?

Over time, social media has been given a bad reputation by some who feel that there is a lot of negativity in the space and that it is a time suck. Others have seen the benefits of it and used it to their advantage whether it be grow their audience, their business or connections.

With everything that is currently going on in the world and COVID-19, it’s become clear that many of us are dealing with stress, overwhelm, anxiety and loneliness. It’s not just the stay-at-home-moms that are experiencing these emotions, it’s all of us facing the unknown TOGETHER.

The reality is, though, that you CAN use social media to combat loneliness and anxiety during this time of social distancing. I have 3 tips that will help you accomplish this, if you’re open to trying it.

If I can tell you one thing right now it is to use this time to focus on YOU: your self-care, your goals, your hobbies, etc. It will help alleviate the stress and use your time wisely.

Tip #1: Change Your Perspective

Although social media can be seen as time consuming, negative, and many play the comparison game, it can be quite the opposite. If you change your perspective a bit, you can make social media work for you in many ways that will benefit you socially, emotionally and cognitively.

Social media is the one place where we can actually build connections, make new friendships, share laughs and make great memories together during moments of social distancing. Step out of your comfort zone and engage with accounts that motivate you, people who have similarities with you or even complete strangers!

You never know the friendships that can be cultivated online if you don’t try. 💕

Tip #2: Use social media as a creative outlet

As teachers, moms or entrepreneurs, we are so used to consuming content but what happens when you’re forced to stay home and not engage physically with others? Your ability to “make a difference” begins to weaken and make you feel like you’re unsure of your purpose.

However, if you are offered a space where you can create, share, and consume positive content, everything changes! Do what you were meant to do and make a difference in the world; just in a different way. Create content you love and that resonates well with others; share motivational content with your friends and consume all the positive content that is being posted on a daily basis.

Let your creative juices flow, my friend! Your cup will be filled in ways you never knew existed! ✨

Tip #3: Inspire or Be Inspired

I know I say this a lot, but if you can be a motivational tool for others, you will help make the world a better place to live in, for us ALL. On social media, you have the option to do 1 of 2 options, or both! You can be the inspiration for others OR seek positive and encouraging content/messages from others and share them with the world.
