5 Ways to Rest and Relax This Summer to Prep for Next School Year (Ditch Stress, Anxiety and Burnout, my teacher friends)

Hey, hey teacher friends! I am SO pumped because summer is finally almost here! 🏖 I’m thinking beach days, fruity cocktails, tan lines (without the burns 😂)… you get what I mean. As a teacher, all I could think about in the summer was how I can rest and relax, especially after almost a year of constant teaching, learning, progress monitoring, parent-teacher conferences, the works!

I’ve compiled 5 ideas for you that should help alleviate the stress + anxiety of last year and prepping for the new school year. Here we go!

Beach Days

Who doesn’t love a good beach day? Here are some essentials to pack:

  • Sunscreen

  • Towel

  • Sunglasses

  • Hat/cover up

  • Snacks

  • Water

  • Opt: umbrella, music, sports balls, games, etc.

If you have littles, don’t forget to take toys, shovel, pail, sandcastle equipment, water shoes and anything else they’d like for summer fun!

Reading

Grab a good fiction/nonfiction book, classic novel or fun beach time read for on-the-go relaxation time. Carve out some time each day for self-care and spend some quality minutes reading or as I like to think of it, escaping reality. I’ll be rereading the Harry Potter series starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Book 1) this week!

Spa Days

Indulge in a massage, facial, mani/pedi or simply head over to your local spa and enjoy the amenities. I particularly love the lounge chairs, pools, rain showers + jacuzzis. Make a day out of it and grab a bite and delicious cocktail in a nearby restaurant for the full experience! Pamper yourself, girl. You deserve it!

DIY Hobbies

Do you enjoy painting? What about handlettering, gardening or doing makeup? Maybe you’re the girl who likes to challenge yourself on the Peloton or just cuddle in your loveseat with a cup of tea and a good book. Whatever your self-care looks like, get it going and do what you absolutely LOVE! This is the perfect time to do YOU.

Retail Therapy

Where are my ladies who love to spend a day at the mall or their favorite shops? 💃🏻 I certainly didn’t forget about you. Are you into summer dresses, sandals + beach wear OR athleisure clothing for a full-blown chill mode? Maybe you’re like me and prefer to grab those hot summer deals on home improvement and decor. Grab a little bit of that savings $ and treat yourself, my friend!
