5 Tips for Organizing Your Home School Area - The Ultimate Solution Guide to Simple School Supply Organization

Organize Home School Area blog post cover.pngOrganize Home School Area blog post cover.png

Hey, hey! It’s no secret that most of us are staying home while COVID-19 simmers down (and hopefully goes away for good). Whether you’re participating in virtual school or homeschooling, I’m about to throw down some crazy value AND a freebie so stick around until the end of this post! 😉

We’ve been homeschooling for about 2.5 years and one of the biggest challenges we faced was getting ALL THE THINGS organized. I constantly try to teach my daughter that everything has a home and how important it is to clean up after ourselves.

It builds responsibility, independence and organization skills. These are crucial, especially when teaching your littles!

Notice in the title I didn’t write homeschool. That’s because these tips apply to anyone doing any type of school in your home this year: virtual or homeschool.⁣

If there is anything I can teach you as a mom, wife + educator, it is that organization is a MUST. 👏

Tip #1: PLAN

Create or use a planner to organize your designated area, schedule, materials, thematic units, curriculum, and miscellaneous ideas. 📝

Tip #2: SUPPLIES

Make a list of the supplies you’ll need (or use your child’s school supply list). Then, give everything a home and be consistent with clean-up on a daily basis. 🖍⁣

Tip #3: LABEL

Create labels for all the bins. Clutter is distracting and won’t help your littles concentrate. I made these 👆 over the weekend! 🎨⁣

Tip #4: SIMPLIFY

Place all unnecessary items in bigger containers/bins and store in a nearby space or closet. Minimize the objects that are accessible to your littles and only keep what they need. 🎨⁣

Tip #5: ROTATE

Rotate the stored items to keep them “new” and interesting but also with a purpose. If they are related to the thematic unit you are teaching/they are learning, bring them out! 🚂⁣
